The Warley Beer Opinion Submissions up to 3/27/2026

Delicious. Fantastic flavor, especially considering the high abv. Most IPAs at this abv have a sweet, boozy flavor that I do not care for. This is an IPA I would drink regularly.

Santa Cruz, California  “First off, many many congrats on following your passion!  That’s inspiring!

I am an IPA drinker.  I found your beer delicious, honestly.  For my personal taste, it was a bit darker and deeper than I generally drink but I thought it was a great and balanced beer.  I would be happy with this if it were offered to me anywhere.

Foodwise, I’d say it’s going to overshadow most foods.  Maybe something stewy with a high umami factor?  Or crackers and sharp cheddar cheese?

I found the alcohol content a little bit intimidating, honestly.  I enjoy beer, but I am not a beer. This is not a beer that I would have more than one can of.

Thanks for the drink!

“The Warley is a typical bitter IPA, though has a hint of maltiness. It was smooth and very drinkable. The 9.5% ALC/VOL may be a bit exaggerated. For reference I had two.

Similar to Lagunitas IPA.

If I saw it at my local market, I would buy it.”

Martinez, California “I found the flavor to be totally unique to me and absolutely loved it. I hope you can bring it to market soon. Oakland, California “Great beer. Really enjoyed it-lots of flavor. Oakland, California “I’d buy your beer if it was in stores. Nice stuff! Sanjose, California “It’s very good!  The ABV is deceptively high for a DIPA this smooth.  I would love to taste a dry hopped version that was slightly crisper. Oakland, California “Hello,

I tried a Warley given to ne by Michael C and I really liked it. It has a great flavor, great mouthfeel and to me, it’s like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on steroids.

Very good, how do I order some?

Thank you,

Warren

wlk404@sbcglobal.net Fremont, California “This beer tastes like sunshine in Santa Cruz. I am so thrilled to get this delicious beer out there for more people to enjoy. The marketing is really delightful, some of the best I have seen in years for craft beer. Bravo! Olympia, Washington “Watching Alex Honnold free solo a skyscraper made my palms sweaty. Cracked open The Warley and that 9.5 calmed my nerves immediately. Great beer! San Francisco, California “Hearty. With a twinge of aargh. Pair with an eye patch, Stilton and hard tack. Something pear shaped.  Bound to get you in or out of many a situation. Olympia, Washington “Elegant at first quaff, it did not show 9.5 % on the palate, although not light, but balanced

A reminder of another well respected IPA from Santa Rosa.  I would consider it in the same lineup

Had with Filet & Fries, but I kept on thinking how well

It woul match for great Cub Sandwich, or a Cobb Sakad, or  German style potato Salad.

It fairs well with well made sandwiches San Francisco, California “It’s good, but not that hard to brew a high alcohol beer (I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad one that’s 9% alcohol).  The quote on the can is nice and interesting, but I doubt if the average drinker would appreciate it like myself (I love almost anything historical and naval).  Maybe too long also.  Regardless, the beer was great and I liked the can design👍 Santa Cruz, California “This reminds me of my first IPA when I turned 21. Brought me back to the early craft days, really well done having this at 9.5%

Would absolutely buy this again. Albany, California “Wow!  Great piney hop flavor, a touch of caramel malt. Barely any syrupy-ness, rare for a beer of this strength. In short, a dangerous triple. Delicious. Olympia, Washington “I live west side Santa Cruz , how can I get more of this beer ? Santa Cruz, California “Very tasty , I am shocked how clean and smooth at 9.5%. Nice profile , nothing over bearing , not too much pine resin, not too hoppy and not too heavy in other notes . I wish I would have poured in a glass I can’t comment on color . Nice job people , and thanks to my neighbor Chris for putting one in my mail box !!! Santa Cruz, California “Smooth, great flavor and potent! Felton, California “Interesting taste with a wonderful citrus hopped finish I enjoyed both the flavor and complexity of your creation and applaud it looking forward to seeing it on the shelves! San Jose, California “The beer has a hardy IPA taste, a great aroma, and a nice mouth feel. If you’re looking for a strong, tasty IPA, you found it! Oakland, California “Wow. Good stuff. I don’t drink beer often anymore and was pleasantly surprised by the taste. San Diego, California “The Warley Pale Ale is a unique experience that defies traditional categorization . It is a must try and you will be in for a surprising treat . I am not normally a beer drinker but I love the complexity, the taste and the good cheer behind this beer. It has quite the interesting story and congratulations to the Makers! Berkeley, California “O’captian my captain, I started this voyage with a whiskey and braving a sierra navada or two, but then was advised The Warley would steer me right. The flavor accompanied by the alcohol content guided me through my venture to a safe harbor and very enjoyable destination. 10/10 would recommend. Sacramento, California “Delicious! Great rounded flavor, am loving the honey-like undertones and it’s not giving 9.5% (in a good way!). Would have again 🙂 Marysville, Washington “A strong sea going IPA without bitter aftertastes.

Chill before walking the plank! Santa Cruz, California “A full flavored IPA exceeding most I have drank before, a beautiful rich amber color and pours leaving a thick, lasting, foamy head. Very easy to drink so be careful as the strength  is up there, 9.5 %, had three of these and decided I would be doing the Warley walk home. My wife only drinks IPA when it comes to beer, I brought her one home and she loved it. Would highly recommend this IPA to any beer lover out there and would definitely purchase if it was available.

Thank you

Keep up the good work.

Adrian Norman Santa Cruz, California “Delicious!  A bit higher alcohol and less hoppy finish than I remember other iterations of this recipe. Both good, but may have a preference for what I’ve gotten straight from EB if I had to pick. Would definitely like to drink more of it. Thanks for sharing! Santa Cruz, California “I love this beer. With a well balance of flavors this pale ale does not assault your back palette with scorching hops and alcohol, the roast flavor is just right, and like Lays potato chips you can’t have just one. Santa Cruz, California “You guys are definitely on to something with this delicious beer!! Perfect balance of bitterness and flavor of hops! Super crisp and crushable. And the 9.5% abv slaps as well! It’s nice to have a high abv beer not tastes like octane. Well done! Thank you for sharing! Santa Cruz, California “This is one new delicious beer I’ve tried! Hops are perfect. Nice and easy to drink for a 9.5%. Me and my friend tasted and agree it could be one of our new favorite choices. Keep it up ! Santa Cruz, California “A big beer, not for the weak or meek. A big badass IPA with bigger malt notes that deviate from traditional double or triple.

Beware swabbby clear the decks and standby for heavy rolls as the ship comes about. Oakland, California “Wonderful body, the caramel sweetness on the backend seductively overpowers the hops leaving an unbalanced ending to a great drinking experience. East Side of Santa Cruz, California “Great old school IPA barley flavor. Scotts Valley, California “Excellence achieved.

Serious sailors want a stiff wind

Perfect for a long journey with a troubled lead

Recommend to pair with sea legs

The Sirens are calling Santa Cruz, California “A powerful and strong IPA.  Smooth finish, not too

Bitter.  A hint of almost a cask malt flavor.  Some vanillas, with some pine hints.  For me this is a one a day, or relax on the patio before bed, a nightcap beer.  A more forward tropical/fruit flavor would really be a good addition to this beer. santa cruz, California “So I’ve known, worked with and brewed with Erik for more than 20 years so had already drank quite a bit of his early variants of what became The Warley.  Myself and other friends have been waiting and hoping that we would, at some point,  see your project move forward so super stoked to be able and crack a couple open!

After a little ride yesterday we opened a couple and poured them into chilled pint glasses.  My first impression is how balanced it is for such a high octane brew.  Many beers with this high of ABV are either really malty or really heavy on the hop bitterness.  I got some malt and loving the fruitiness of the hops without having too much bitterness.  Could have sworn I was getting a whiff of mango.

I’ve been making a fair amount of interesting pizzas and smash burgers here at home and think The Warley would be great to wash it down with.

Looking forward to my next one and also seeing it out at some of our local stores and eating establishments.  Hope you get enough positive feedback to make that happen sooner than later.

Cheers, Kurt Santa Cruz, California “I think its great! I have been drinking Eriks homebrew for over 25 years. This one is one of his best!

I would pair it with your favorite burrito and chips and salsa in the shade after a big mountain bike ride!

Cant wait to drink more of these! Bonny Doon, California “Delicious beer! Cant believe it sits at 9.5 abv. Balance between bitter and sweet at that abv is difficult, but this has it. Maltiness is there at just the right amount. Love the hops in there… excellent beer!   And appropriately named…get the feeling that if I were in India and this arrived, I would thank the gods! Santa Cruz, California
